Norway Maple Platter

Carved from a Norwegian maple burl, this tray takes shape around the lines already present in the wood. I chose to follow these movements rather than erase them, preserving an organic hollow and a free-form silhouette.

Lightly charred edges enhance the contrast with the lighter center, where the grain, tonal variations, and the markings unique to the burl remain visible.

The piece highlights the visual density of the wood — Its irregularities, tensions, and shifts in tone. True to the spirit of the Vib collection, it remains intentionally simple in its function, yet distinct in its presence.
